The Junior League of Olympia wants to EMPOWER U to live your best day ever.
For the first time, the local service league is hosting a day of personal and leadership development for the modern, goal-oriented woman.
The workshop is from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. on Jan. 28 at the Washington PUD Office, 212 Union Ave. SE, Suite 201 in Olympia.
“Overwhelmed, overbooked and on the edge of burn out – do any of these words describe you?” asked Stacy C. Johnson, the league’s VP of Training. “This inaugural EMPOWER U will fill your personal leadership tool box and get you inspired to start out 2017 on the right foot.”
Attendees will learn how to power their days as their authentic selves through yoga, leadership and personal branding training, a jumpstart crash course on what’s new in nutrition and inspired networking.
The league sought the most talented speakers and trainers, and the community answered with eager leaders who believe in the mission of the organization.
"Mastering and empowering self is the foundation of great leadership,” said one of the workshop leaders Dariush Khaleghi.
League members have opened this opportunity to all local women who would like to learn and EMPOWER U is open to the public. The cost to attend is $25 and includes a healthy lunch and all programming.
The organizers are piloting a small-scale scholarship opportunity program to allow young women leaders from local colleges and high schools attend.
"The organization has renewed its focus on the mission to develop the potential of women and this special event is a product of that goal," said Johnson. “We opened the event to the public to invest in all women in our community.”
The league focuses on preventing child abuse and neglect in Thurston County and trains women to serve in leadership roles in other community groups and nonprofits.
